Bloody impossible to scrape together the energy to write here last few nights. so i just kinda... haven't =]
So, i left the story friday i believe. After two days of asda training and bandy type things. Or something a bit like that anyways.
Saturdays, always a bloody killer. Was up and in asda by 9 for this stupid test thingy. Its all multiple choice, but you had to sit through all these video's before you could answer the damn questions. Still, did that in under an hour. had to wait another hour for all the others to bloody finish!!! Wretched technophobes!!! Then it was time to don the SUPER SEXY high vis jackets and get shown how to move something with wheels. big bloody shocker there. Finally got home, and can't say i really remember what i did the rest of the day... saturday... saturday... nothing on the calendar to say i did anything special. Must've just been lazing about the rest of the afternoon i reckon. sounds about right for me.
So, onto Sunday. First actual shift. 8am - 5pm. And guess where they put me, onto meat. Great sense there, i know, we'll put the veggie on meat. Still, it was worth it for my managers face in the morning.
"Hi Adam, how are you this morning? Ready for your first shift?"
"Yer, i'm not too bad thanks, looking forward to it"
"Brilliant, you're going to be on meat today. That okay?"
"Erm..."
"Haha, you're not a vegetarian are you?"
"Kinda... as in kinda yes."
"Oh..." *the look on his face that made it worth lugging around dead things for the next few hours*
It wasn't actually that bad. Nice and cool cos was in and out of giant fridges, and the people couldn't have been nicer. Also bumped into a few people i knew from outside of work which was nice. Nice to know i'm not alone out there lol. But it was a bit depressing, especially putting out bacon, looking at the roll cage and seeing just how much of it there was, and thinking "how many bloody pigs had to die for this??" so wasn't all fun and games. But you gotta do what you gotta do, and all in all it could have been FAR worse! Was rather tiring though, so when i got off i was VERY happy to get home, grab a cold one out of the fridge, and knock up a big jug of Pimms before our BBQ. That was good, very good evening. None of this football rubbish!
Yesterday, Monday. I'm on work experience this week, with a friend of mine's dad. He's an industrial carpenter, and a really great bloke. I know him through band as well of course. But working with him and his gang is brilliant fun. A bit boring at times as there can be fuck all to do aside from watch... But then you can just chat. And moving stuff, thats good for the old arms i'm certain =D Also made myself a steel bracelet thing as a little trial. Well, made it over the weekend, accidently slept with it on, and woke up to a lump of rust around my wrist. fun fun fun... Then had another 5 hour shift in the evening. This one was less fun. I wasn't on meat, so i was thinking "GREAT!!!" Instead i was plonked on fruit and veg. It does pain me to say it, but i preferred working on meat. I mean, it was better organised, better stocked, the people were nicer, explaining things better. I mean bloody hell, its my second day, i don't have a fucking clue about anything!!!! And they made me spend an hour and a half just compacting rubbish. I was not amused. Nor that my colleagues just fucked off every now and then to go and chat up girls. So, not a great department, would rather work meat... which doesn't appeal greatly, but still.
Today, got there at last. Well, took all the rust off my bracelet, and laquered it, so hopefully i won't have the same problems again! Got up at half 6, way too early and got to work site about 8ish. Today was slightly more fun. Big old power drill that tried to break my wrist, shifting these great big oak beams, actually walked away knowing i'd helped do something which was nice. And biggest advantage, no work today. nothing till thursday in fact, so DON'T expect a blog then lol. Got home and found my "workshop" (shed) has arrived. Really happy about that. Father was less so, cos its another job, and just moving it off the doorstep was a bit of mission in its own right to be honest. But what can ya do? Also my dad's opinion is that if you but it, its gunna be rubbish. He might be correct, but what he wants to do to this shed is gunna take FOREVER. It might well be worth it... but still!!! Eurgh. I meant to have a cat nap earlier, no bloody chance of that. But at least i can be in bed before bloody midnight for once i hope.
Goodnight cruel world
Adam
p.s. sorry this one's such a whingey essay =P
